About StressFree

The name behind StressFree is David Harrison, please feel free to contact me with any questions, observations or just to say hello.
I completed a Bachelor of Architecture degree at Victoria University at the end of 2003 but by the end of the course I had pretty much made up my mind I didn't want to be an architect. Whilst doing the degree I became involved in several digital research projects which let me play around with the Web. From this work I gained experience in Java and .Net (VB.Net, C#), XML and relational databases (mainly MySQL). Doing 'research' let me experiment with Linux servers and get very annoyed at Windows machines all without the pressures of a corporate environment.
In 2003 I began StressFree Solutions Ltd, a software development and consultancy business mainly serving customers of friends of mine who are in the IT industry. Services provided range from general IT support to Internet/Intranet projects. My architecture degree actually comes in very handy for the aesthetic and design challenges usually posed.
In November 2003 I began a PhD at Victoria University entitled ‘Building Digital Bridges’. Financial backing for this PhD has been provided by the Foundation for Research Science and Technology via a Top Achiever Scholarship. The PhD is exploring means of encouraging digital conversation and collaboration by insular organisations associated with the building during its lifecycle. I am posting my progress on a blog available here. Progress goes in bursts but all in all its looking pretty interesting.
Anyway please feel free to take a look round and read some more.
Regards,
David
